THE VINEYARD
Tammar Gully Vineyard was first established in 1994 with an initial planting of Chardonnay vines. In 1999, the last block of Cabernet Sauvignon was planted, taking the total planted area to 11.72ha of mature vines. Soil types are predominantly gravelly-loam. In Spring 2007 a 1.84ha block of Sauvignon Blanc was planted.
The vineyard by variety is comprised of:
Chardonnay 2.71 ha
Shiraz 3.75 ha
Cabernet Sauvignon 5.26 ha; and,
Sauvignaon Blanc 1.84 ha with first production due Vintage 2010
Vine rows are 3.5 mtrs wide with a vine spacing of 1.5 mtrs.
All blocks are set up with double cordon VSP and drip irrigated from
two sources (diesel and electric). Both systems are capable of
irrigating the entire vineyard in stages or both systems can operate
concurrently to irrigate separate sections.
Water supply for the vineyard is collected during winter and stored in a series of interconnected dams which have a combined capacity in excess of 30,000 cubic metres.
